니케아 신경

니케아 신경 또는 니케아 신조(Symbolum Nicaenum)는 325년 니케아 공의회에서 예수는 창조된 피조물이라고 주장하던 아리우스주의에 대항하여 고백한 고대교회의 신앙고백이다. 팔레스타인 기독교 공동체의 세례 신경을 기초로 하여 '동질'이라는 용어를 보완한 카에사리아의 교회사학자 에우세비오스의 신경을 기준으로 공포되었다. 이 신경은 삼위일체에 대한 믿음을 표현하며, 특히 성자는 참 하느님에게서 나신 참 하느님이며, 창조되지 않고 나시었다는 신앙고백이 들어 있다. 또한 그리스도의 성육신, 죽음, 부활을 강조하고 있다. 이는 예수는 피조물이라고 주장한 아리우스의 잘못된 교리에 대항한 초대교회의 신앙고백이다.
동방정교회에서는 성찬예배시 니케아 신경을 통해 신앙을 고백하며, 서방교회와는 달리 성령이 성부로부터 나오신다고 고백한다. 로마 가톨릭에서는 미사때 니케아 신경을 통해 그리스도교 신앙을 고백하되 사도신경으로 대체할 수 있다. 성공회에서는 감사성찬례시 니케아 신경을 통해 신앙을 고백하며, 사도신경은 만도(저녁기도)에 사용한다.
