지구의 미래
생물학 및 지질학적 지구의 미래는 여러 장기 영향의 추정된 효과에 기초하여 외삽될 수 있다. 여기에는 지구 표면의 화학 작용, 행성 내부의 냉각 속도, 태양계의 다른 물체와의 중력적 상호작용, 그리고 태양 광도가 꾸준히 증가하는 것이 포함된다. 이 외삽법에서 불확실한 요소는 기후 공학에 중요한 변화를 일으킬 수 있는 기후 공학처럼,[2] 인간이 도입한 기술의 지속적인 영향이다.[3][4] 현재의 홀로세 절멸[5]은 기술[6]로 인해 발생하고 있으며 그 영향은 최대 5백만 년까지 지속될 수 있다.[7] 차례 차례로, 기술은 인류의 절멸을 가져올 것이고, 지구는 장기간의 자연 과정에 의해서 점진적으로 느린 진화 속도로 점차적으로 돌아갈 것이다.[8][9]
