턱수염물범(Erignathus barbatus)은 북극해 근처에서 발견되는 중형 크기 기각류의 일종이다. 속명은 "굵은 턱"(heavy jaw)이라는 의미의 2개 그리스어 단어(eri 및 gnathos)의 합성어에서 유래했다. 턱수염물범속(Erignathus)의 유일종이다. 2002년 처음 기술된 화석은 플라이스토세 동안에 턱수염물범이 사우스캐롤라이나주와 같은 아래의 남쪽 지역까지 분포했음을 시사하고 있다.^[3]

아종[편집]

2종의 아종이 알려져 있지만,^[1] 이들 아종이 유효한 지는 의문이며, 아직은 분자생물학적 정보로 지지되고 있지 않다.^[3]^[4]
