매화오리나무과(梅花----科, 학명: Clethraceae 클레트라케아이^[*])는 진달래목의 과이다.^[1] 동아시아, 북아메리카, 대서양의 마데이라 제도에 약 2속 40~90종가량, 한국에는 매화오리나무 1속 1종이 있다. 관목 또는 교목으로 잎은 홑잎으로 어긋나며 턱잎은 없다. 꽃은 가지 끝에 총상꽃차례나 원추꽃차례로 달리고, 양성화이다. 꽃받침은 깊게 5갈래, 갈래는 꽃눈 속에서 기와 모양으로 배열한다. 꽃잎은 5갈래이며 떨어져 있고, 수술은 10-12개, 떨어지고, 꽃밥은 눈 속에서 뒤로 젖혀진다. 화살촉 모양, 구멍에 의해 열리고, 화반은 없다. 삭과는 둥근 모양으로 열개판 3개, 씨는 다수이다.
