바다동자개과(Ariidae)는 메기목에 속하는 조기어류과의 하나이다.[1] 주로 바다에서 살지만, 민물과 기수(汽水)에서 사는 종도 많다. 전 세계의 열대 및 온대 지역에 널리 분포한다.
하위 분류
[편집]바다동자개과의 분류학적 관계는 아직 명확하지 않다. 고고속(Gogo)과 앙카리우스속(Ancharius)의 2개 속은 별도의 과 앙카리우스과로 옮겨졌다.[2] 바다동자개과는 2개 아과로 분류한다. 갈레이크티스속(Galeichthys)만 갈레이크티스아과(Galeichthyinae)의 유일속으로 분류하고, 나머지 속들은 모두 바다동자개아과(Ariinae)에 속한다.[3]
바다종개과는 30개 속으로 이루어져 있다.
