아이티 크라우드(The IT Crowd)는 영국 채널 4에서 방송되는 크리스 오다우드, 리차드 아요아데, 캐서린 파킨슨 주연의 시트콤 프로그램이다. 영국 아카데미상 및 에미상에서 수상했으며 제작은 그래험 라인한, 연출은 애쉬 아틸라가 맡고 있다.

런던의 가상 회사 '리놈 인더스트리'를 배경으로 컴퓨터 천재 "모스"(아요아데), 게으른 성격의 "로이"(오다우드), 그리고 IT에 대해 전혀 아는게 없는 팀장 "젠"(파킨슨)까지 세 명의 IT부서 직원이 벌이는 갖가지 사건들을 그리고있다.

채널 4에서 2006년 2월 3일 첫 방송되었으며 2010년 현재까지 시즌 당 6편씩 총 4시즌이 제작되었다. 시즌 5와 시즌 6도 제작이 확정되었으며 2011년 시즌 5가 방송될 예정이다.

아이티 크라우드는 작가 딜란 모란과 함께한 파더 테드, 아서 매튜스와 함께한 블랙 북스에 이은 시트콤 제작자 그래험 리네한의 세 번째 성공작이다.

제목

방송 제목의 'IT'는 "The 'IT' Crowd"에서는 [ˈɪt/]로, "I.T. 부서"의 의미일때는 [ˌaɪˈtiː]로 발음한다.

기본 줄거리

아이티 크라우드는 중부 런던에 위치한 가상의 영국 기업 리놈 인더스트리(Reynholm Industries)를 배경으로 한다. 기본적인 극 전개는 세 명의 IT부서 직원들이 벌이는 만담으로 이루어진다. 이들이 근무하는 지하실은 어두컴컴하고 각종 집기들이 어지럽게 널려있는 지저분한 공간이며 이는 런던 시가지가 한눈에 내려다 보이는 최신식 건물인 리놈 인더스트리의 다른 업무공간들과 대비를 이룬다. 리놈 인더스트리에 대해 정확히 알려진 정보는 거의 없어서 시즌 내내 웃음을 유발하는 요소 중 하나로 쓰이는데, 그나마 알려진 사실이라고는 ITV라는 회사를 샀다가 되팔았다는 것과 (사장인 덴홈 리놈은 이 사실을 까맣게 잊고 있다.) 덴홈이 죽기 직전의 한 해 실적이 1조 8천억이라는 것 정도이다.

더글라스 리놈은 IT부서의 직원들을 "야심가(젠)", "천재(모스)" 그리고 "아일랜드인(로이)"으로 표현한다. 두 명의 기술자 모스와 로이는 사회부적응자, 혹은 덴홈 리놈의 말처럼 "Standard nerds"로 묘사된다. 그들은 회사에서 많은 일을 하지만 늘 무시당하고, 다른 직원들은 그들을 얕보거나 바보 취급한다. 로이는 자신들이 푸대접받는것에 늘 분통을 터뜨리고 다른 부서에서 걸려오는 컴퓨터 관련 상담전화에 무조건 "컴퓨터 껐다 커보셨어요?(Have you tried turning it off and on again?)" 혹은 "플러그는 꼽혀 있나요?(Is it definitely plugged in?)" 같은 답변들로만 일관한다. 심지어는 이런 정해진 대답들마저 릴 투 릴 오디오 테이프에 녹음해 자동응답 기계가 대신 전화를 받게 하기도 한다. 그는 자신의 성격을 엽기적인 무늬가 그려진 티셔츠로 표현하는데 디자인은 매 회 마다 바뀐다. Moss's wide and intricate knowledge of all things technical is reflected in his extremely accurate yet utterly indecipherable suggestions, while he demonstrates a complete inability to deal with practical problems like extinguishing fires and removing spiders.

Jen, the newest member of the team, is hopelessly non-technical, despite claiming on her curriculum vitae that she has "a lot of experience with computers". As Denholm, the company boss, is equally tech-illiterate, he is convinced by Jen's interview bluffing and appoints her head of the IT department. Her official title is "relationship manager", yet her attempts at bridging the gulf between the technicians and the business generally have the opposite effect, landing Jen in situations just as ludicrous as those of her teammates.

• 크리스 오다우드 로이 트레네만 역(役) – a laid-back IT technician from Ireland, Roy is often shown to go to great lengths to fob off workmates so he can sit around doing nothing. However, when something does happen, he's always the one who gets the wrong end of the stick and is constantly either injured or in distress. He and his co-worker Moss are described as "standard nerds" by Denholm Reynholm.
• 리차드 아요아데 as 모리스 모스 역(役) – highly intelligent with lack of social skills, Moss is a "standard nerd" who struggles to communicate with anything that doesn't have a keyboard. Moss lives at home with his mother, who also dresses him and packs him lunch. In the episode 'The haunting of Bill Crouse', he claims that Jen is dead and in the following episode ('Aunt Irma Visits'), he pays a visit to a psychiatrist (who looks exactly like Roy's mother), who has an affair with him.
• 캐서린 파킨슨 as 젠 바버 역(役) – after claiming she has had "a lot of experience with computers" Jen is made head of Reynholm Industries IT department, where she is soon proven by Roy and Moss to in fact have no knowledge of IT at all. However, she finds her niche by working as the Relationship Manager between IT and the rest of Reynholm Industries.
• 크리스 모리스 as 덴홈 리놈 역(役) (시즌 1&2, 시즌 3의 "From Hell" 편) – the founder of Reynholm industries, Denholm has very little understanding of IT. In series 2 Denholm is informed by the police of a problem with the company's pension accounts, leading him to commit suicide by walking out a high storey window. He appears once in series 3 when Douglas sees him briefly in the afterlife.
• 맷 베리 as 더글라스 리놈 역(役) (시즌 2~4) – the son of Denholm "that fled from a hefty lawsuit to go off womanising all over the world" using his father's cash, Douglas inherits Reynholm Industries. At the end of series 4, he is taking into court by his apparently 'dead' wife, Victoria. There is quite an argument, but in the end she sued him for a large amount of money.
• 노엘 필딩 as 리치몬드 아베날 역(役) (시즌 1&2, 시즌 4의 "Renyholm vs. Reynholm 편) – once a young go-getter at Reynholm Industries, Richmond was the right-hand-man to Denholm, before finding Cradle of Filth and becoming a goth - leading to his downfall as a successful businessman. As a result he ends up confined to the server room in the basement, next to the IT department. Richmond didn't appear in Series 3 due to Noel Fielding's busy schedule. Richmond was said by Moss to have scurvy. In the fourth series' final episode, Richmond features once more in a cameo appearance, where it is revealed that after he caught Scurvy he decided that he didn't want to be a goth after all, and instead began running a successful business called "Goth2Boss" to encourage goths to cheer up and make good use of their lives.

2010년 현재 시즌당 6회씩 총 4개의 시즌이 방송되었다. 시즌 1은 2006년 2월 3일, 시즌 2는 2007년 8월 24일, 시즌 3은 2008년 11월 21일, 그리고 시즌 4는 2010년 6월 25일부터 각각 방송되었다.

시즌 4 방송전인 2009년 여름에 크리스마스 특별판에 대한 계획이 있었다. 크리스 오다우드(로이)가 같은 해 5월 인터뷰에서 밝힌 적이 있지만 결국 방송되지는 않았다.

아이티 크라우드는 전 세계 여러 나라에서도 방송되고 있다. 유럽에서는 불가리아의 GTV가 2008년 6월부터 방송을 시작했고 독일 코미디 센트럴에서는 2009년 9월부터 시즌 1을, 체코에서는 체코 텔레비전과 HBO, 덴마크의 TV 2 줄루, 네덜란드의 코미디 센트럴에서도 각각 전파를 탔다. 미국에서는 IFC에서 방송을 시작했으며 넷플릭스의 스트리밍 서비스를 통해서도 시즌 1,2,3을 시청할 수 있다. 호주 In Australia series 1 and 2 were broadcast on ABC, with syndication on ABC2, as well as being aired on UKTV. 방송되었다. In the United States, episodes have been shown on IFC and the first 3 series are streamable on Netflix. Canadian channel G4 Canada ran the show during their Adult Digital Distraction segment in July 2007. In Latin America is airing in Mexico since 2010 on Canal 11

평가

시즌 1의 1화 시청자수는 약 180만명 정도로 BBC 뉴스는 이에 대해 '실망스러운 수치'로 표현했다. 그러나 작가 리네한은 스스로가 "오랜 게임"을 하고 있는 것이라며, 그의 첫 작품 파더 테드 또한 초기엔 "거의 아무도 모르는" 수준이였으나 이후 꾸준히 시청자가 증가했고 결국 수상까지 할 수 있었던 점을 상기시켰다. 가장 최근 방송작인 시즌 4의 6화 방송때는 최고 시청자수 217만명을 기록하여 동시간대 방송중에서 최고의 성적을 거두었다.

아이티 크라우드는 영국 아카데미상(BAFTA), 국제 에미상, 로즈 도르 텔레비전 엔터테인먼트 어워드 등에서 수상했으며 이외에도 영국 미디 가이드가 주관하는 Comedy.co.uk의 팬 인기투표에서도 1위를 기록했다. 또 영국 코미디 어위드와 아일랜드 영화 TV 어워드에서도 수상한 기록을 갖고있다.

2006년에는 영국 코미디 가이드의 최우수 새 시트콤상에서 16개의 후보작을 누르고 1위를 기록했다. 2007년에도 영국 코미디 가이드의 올해의 코미디 프로그램상에서 100개가 넘는 후보작을 누르고 수상했다. 역시 In 2006, the series was voted Best New British Sitcom at the 2006 Comedy.co.uk Awards out of seventeen nominees. In 2007, the series was voted Comedy Of The Year at the 2007 Comedy.co.uk Awards, out of over 100 nominees. Nominated in the 2007 BAFTAs for Best Situation Comedy alongside Green Wing and Pulling, it lost out to eventual winner The Royle Family. In 2008 the series was awarded the International Emmy Award for Comedy. and the 2008 Rose d'Or for Best Sitcom. Nominated in the 2008 BAFTAs for Best Situation Comedy alongside Benidorm and The Thick of It, it lost out to eventual winner Peep Show. In 2009, the series won the Best Situation Comedy award at the 2009 BAFTAs. Also in 2009 Graham Linehan won best script television actor at the 6th Irish Film and Television Awards for the show, while Katherine Parkinson won the Best Comedy Actress award at the 2009 British Comedy Awards.
