산업분류벤치마크
산업분류벤치마크[1](Industry Classification Benchmark, ICB)는 2005년 다우 존스와 FTSE에서 사용을 시작한 기업 분류법이다. 이 방법은 거시 경제 관점에서 시장을 여러 업종(섹터, sector)으로 나눠 분류하는데 사용된다. ICB는 10개의 산업과 19개로 분류되는 상위 업종(supersector)과 이를 보다 세분화한 41개의 업종, 여기에 포함되어 있는 114개의 하위 업종(subsector)으로 구성되었으며[2][3] 2019년 현재 11개의 산업, 20개의 상위 업종, 45개의 업종, 173개의 하위 업종으로 확장되었다.[4]
ICB는 범세계적 관점에서 시장을 보다 구체적인 분류로 나누는 방법 가운데 하나이며, 이를 통해 기업 투자자가 잘 정의 된 하위 부문 간의 업계 동향을 비교할 수 있게 해준다. ICB는 2006년 1월 3일에 기존 FTSE 그룹 및 다우 존스 분류 체계를 시스템을 대체했으며 오늘날 나스닥, NYSE, 런던증권거래소, FTSE International 및 STOXX 등에서 사용되고 있다. 모든 ICB의 부문은 Equity Investment Instruments (8980) 및 Nonequity Investment Instruments (8990)를 제외하고 뉴욕 증권거래소에 공표된다.[5][6]
한편 다우 존스는 2011년 ICB에 대한 지분의 50%를 매각했으며 자체적인 분류체계를 만들고 있다고 발표했다.[7]
