대한제국 원(大韓帝國 圓)은 대한제국에서 1902년부터 1910년까지 사용하던 화폐 단위이다. 하위 단위는 전(錢)으로 1원은 100전이다.
역사[편집]
원 단위는 냥을 대신하기 위해 1902년에 처음 사용되었는데, 5냥을 1원으로 했다. 1909년에 서울에 한국은행이 세워져 중앙 은행의 역할을 맡게 되었을 때부터 근대적 화폐를 발행했다. 원은 일본 엔과 가치가 동등했으나, 1910년에 일제 강점기가 시작되면서 화폐 단위는 조선 엔으로, 한국은행의 이름은 조선은행(朝鮮銀行)으로 바뀌었다.
동전[편집]
동전에는 0.5전(錢), 1전, 5전, 10전, 20전, 50전(또는 반원(半圓)), 5원, 10원, 20원이 있었다. The coins all carried the title of the "state", Daehan (대한; 大韓), and the Korean era name, Gwangmu (광무; 光武) and then Yunghui (융희;隆熙), whilst the specifications were equivalent to the coins of the Japanese yen.

Banknotes[편집]
No banknotes were issued denominated in won. However, Korean yen notes were issued by Dai Ichi Ginko (First National Bank (of Japan), 株式會社第一銀行).
