메콘스(The Mekons)는 1970년대 후반에 결성된 영국의 펑크 록 밴드이다. 영국의 펑크 록 밴드 중 가장 오랫 동안 활동하는 밴드이자 다작하는 밴드로 잘 알려져 있다.[1][2] 밴드의 음악 스타일은 컨트리 음악, 민요, 얼터너티브 록, 덥 등 다양한 음악을 합쳤으며,[3] 시끄러운 라이브 쇼로도 잘 알려져 있다.[4]

평가[편집]

메콘스는 밥 딜런, 더 클래시와 함께 로버트 크리스트가우가 두 번 올해의 음반으로 선정한 작품을 만든 밴드나 음악가로, 크리스트가우는 1985년 《Fear and Whiskey》와 2002년 《OOOH!》를 그 해 자신이 가장 좋아하는 음반으로 선정하였다.
