신의 작정의 논리적 순서

작정의 논리적 순서(logical order of God's decrees) 혹은 선택설이란 주로 존 칼빈의 신학에 논의되는 것으로 하나님이 선택과 유기의 시점을 어디에 두는가에 초점이 맞춰져 있다. 전통적으로 2가지가 있다. 타락전 선택설(Supralapsarianism)란 하나님의 선택(election) 과 유기(reprobation)의 작정(decree)이 타락의 작정보다 더 앞선다고 보는 주장이다. 타락후 선택설(infralapsarianism)란 하나님의 선택(election) 과 유기(reprobation)의 작정(decree)이 타락의 작정 뒤라고 보는 주장이다. 리차드 백스터는 이 두 주장에 대한 논쟁이 지나치게 격했다고 주장하였다. 하지만, 프란시스쿠스 유니우스와 윌리엄 트위세, 프란시스 튜레틴, 에드워드 레이등은 두 의견의 차이는 별로 중요치 않다고 주장했다.
