푸야는 2011년에 진지하게 랩을 하기 시작했고,[2] 고등학교를 졸업하기 전에 중퇴했다.[3] 학교를 졸업한 후 1년 동안, 그는 생계를 유지하기 위해 식당에서 버스보이로 일했다.[4] 그는 소꿉친구인 Fat Nick과 팀을 이루었고, 둘은 후에 그들의 음반사가 된 그룹인 Buffet Boys를 결성했다. 두 사람은 아직 어렸을 때 유튜브에서 "닉 앤 푸야 쇼"라는 코미디 쇼를 했다.[3] Pouya는 2012년에 "Fuck It"이라는 제목의 첫 번째 믹스 테이프를 발매했다.[4] He gained notoriety after he released the song "Get Buck" in 2013.[5] 2013년 11월 20일, 푸야는 더 쿨 키즈의 마이클 록스(Rocks) 경과의 콜라보레이션 EP "Gookin"을 발매했다. 록스(Rocks)가 마이애미로 이사한 후 둘은 서로 연결되었다.[6]
