2009년의 모습

페레 우부(Pere Ubu)는 1975년 미국 오하이오주 클리블랜드에서 결성한 록 그룹이다. 데이비드 토머스가 현재까지 유일하는 활동 멤버로 다양한 밴드 멤버가 오갔다. 1978년 데뷔 음반 《The Modern Dance》를 발매하고 1982년 해체 전까지 몇 장의 음반을 더 발표했다. 토머스는 이후 1987년 밴드를 재결성하고 음반 녹음 및 투어를 계속하고 있다.

"아방가르드 개러지"로 표현되는 페레 우부의 음악은 구체 음악, 60년대 록, 행위 예술, 미국 중서부의 산업 환경 등에서 영감을 받았다.[1][2] 밴드는 상업적인 성공을 거두지는 못했지만 언더그라운드 음악에 광범위한 영향을 미쳤다.[3]
