Europeana

Introduction

(1) - 1. Introduction

Europeana is an internet portal that acts as an interface to millions of books, paintings, films, museum objects and archival records that have been digitised throughout Europe.

(1) - 2. History

The catalyst for Europeana was a letter sent by Jacques Chirac, President of France, to recommended the creation of a virtual European library, to make Europe's cultural heritage accessible for all.
The project that would begin the building of Europeana was called the European Digital Library Network – EDLnet – and was aimed at building a prototype of a cross-border, cross-domain, user-centred service.
And the prototype was launched on 20 November, 2008. In February 2009, the successor of EDLnet – Europeana version 1.0 – began. Early in 2011 new features on the site included a translation tool and the ability to expand on information by automatically transferring the search term to Wikipedia and other services.

  • Introduction

HathiTrust Digital Library is a digital preservation repository and highly functional access platform. It provides long-term preservation and access services for public domain and in copyright content from a variety of sources, including Google, the Internet Archive, Microsoft, and in-house partner institution initiatives.

The partners ensure the reliability and efficiency of the digital library by relying on community standards and best practices, developing policies and procedures to manage content and services at scale, and maintaining a modular, open infrastructure.

  • Collection

<Searching, Reading, Building Collections, and Accessibility>

HathiTrust provides a baseline of access tools for content in the repository and works with participating libraries to define, prioritize, and develop other tools and services. HathiTrust has also elaborated open service definitions (APIs) to make it possible for participating libraries to develop other secure access mechanisms.

- Collection builder

The Collection Builder provides the ability for end-users and collection development staff to create and “publish” virtual collections of volumes held in the repository. A UM-specific version was released in mid-2008. See the Using the Digital Library help page for more information.

- Access mechanisms for users with print disabilities

The University of Michigan has developed a mechanism to support additional access for users with print disabilities. HathiTrust will work with participating libraries to design and implement a generalized version (i.e., a version that works with multiple institutions). See HathiTrust Accessibility for more information.

- APIs

Please see Data Availability and APIs.

- Additional Searching Options

We have made it possible for institutions to load bibliographic records for HathiTrust materials into their own catalogs. Libraries are thus able to make full-text volumes from HathiTrust available through their local catalogs. Several institutions that have already done this are listed below. Instructions on how to load bibliographic records are available on the Data Availability and APIs page.

  • Service
  • Search & Browse

- Bibliographic Search

Bibliographic searching (title, author, subject, ISBN, publisher, and year of publication) of the HathiTrust Digital Library is available through the primary catalog search box on the home page or through OCLC's prototype catalog.

- Global searching

HathiTrust offers full-text search across all items in the repository (including public domain and in copyright works) The portal to full-text search can be reached at http://www.hathitrust.org. More information about our efforts in this area can be found at http://www.hathitrust.org/large_scale_search and on the Large-Scale Search Blog.

2. California Digital Library[편집]

  1. Introduction
  • The CDL was founded by the University of California in 1997 to take advantage of emerging technologies that were transforming the way digital information was being published and accessed. Since then, in collaboration with the UC libraries and other partners, CDL has assembled one of the world’s largest digital research libraries and changed the ways that faculty, students, and researchers discover and access information.
In partnership with the UC libraries, the CDL has continually broken new ground by developing systems linking CDL' users to the vast print and online collections within UC and beyond. Building on the foundations of the Melvyl Catalog, CDL developed one of the largest online library catalogs in the country. CDL saves the University millions of dollars by facilitating the co-investment and sharing of materials and services used by libraries across the UC system. CDL works in partnership with campuses to bring the treasures of CDL' libraries, museums, and cultural heritage organizations to the world. And CDL continues to explore how services such as digital curation, scholarly publishing, archiving and preservation support research throughout the information lifecycle.
Serving the UC libraries is a vital component of our mission. CDL's unique position within the University allows us to provide the infrastructure and support commonly needed by the campus libraries, freeing them to focus their resources on the needs of their users.
Looking ahead, the CDL will continue to use innovative technology to connect content and communities in ways that enhance teaching, learning, and research.

How do I price imagery? The answer for this During your search, you'll find images that are designated as either royalty-free (RF) or rights-managed (RM). Prices for royalty-free licensing are based on size, and are available right when you select an image. Rights-managed licensing requires a few extra clicks to define usage specifications and establish pricing.

What am I actually purchasing? When you "purchase" media, you are actually purchasing a license for the rights to use that media. The price of the media is based on the type of license you choose and the usage specifications you provide (note that usage specifications are only required for rights-managed and rights-ready media). Depending on how you assign the license, either you (the purchaser) or someone else (3rd party individual or company) will own the right to use the media as outlined in the licensing agreement.

  1. 7 Musicpedia

1.Introduction

1.1 Aboutness

Musipedia is a search engine for identifying pieces of music.

This can be done by whistling a theme, playing it on a virtual piano keyboard, tapping the rhythm on the computer keyboard, or entering the Parsons code.

1.2 History

Musipedia was started by Rainer Typke in 1997 and has been developed by him since then. Since 2004 is called it "Musipedia". Musipedia locates the MIDI files that go into its search index by using the Alexa Web Search service, which has been available since December 2005. Since 2006 become, the Musipedia search engine can also be used for searching the world wide web for MIDI files.

Search & Browse Music Search This site you can search based on melody, melodic contour, or just rhythm. You need to understand how to manage these search system.

1. Melody Search

The pitch and onset time-based search takes more properties of the melody into account. This search method, which is used by default, is still transposition-invariant and tempo-invariant, but it takes rhythm and intervals into account. The melody can be entered in various ways, for example by clicking on a virtual keyboard on the screen. The search engine then segments the query, converts each segment into a set of points in the two-dimensional space of onset time and pitch, and, by using the Earth Mover's Distance, compares each point set to pre-computed point sets representing segments of melodies from the database. As with the contour search, little alterations of the query will lead to correspondingly small changes in the results, which makes the search method somewhat error-tolerant.

파일:1.bmp
1.1 A flash-based piano

This method is how to search by clicking with the mouse on the virtual keyboard. It is useful if you only know the melody without knowing the information of the song you want to find.

1.2 A javascript-based piano There are two ways how this is to use the mouse and how to use the keyboard. How to use the mouse, by clicking with the mouse a notes on the screen made the melody to the score on virtual.

그림 1- a javascipt-based piano

Using the keyboard in the following ways: 1. Press the keys on your keyboard's middle row (a,s,d,f on US keyboards) for playing notes. The row above contains the black keys (w,e, t,y,u, o,p on US keyboards). 2. Shift keys increase pitch by one octave. 3. Use the space bar to make the last note longer, or digits 1-9 to change the last note duration. 4. Use 0 to insert a rest. 5. Cursor keys move cursor or change pitch of last note.

1.3 By dragging the mouse

그림 1- by dragging the mouse

This method is a way to create notes that can be searched by clicking and dragging with the mouse. Using the method in the following ways: 1. Please enter at least 5 notes by clicking and dragging the mouse in the grid area. 2. Listen to your query with the Play button (undernea th the trash can) before starting a search. 3. You can correct any notes by just dragging them somewhere else, or into the trash can if you want to delete them.

1.4 Using a microphone Than any other method, this method may seem relatively easy. You can search that you want by singing or whistling. However, To use the search, you need to prepare a separate microphone. As a reminder, when singing, please don't sing with the actual lyrics. Rather, sing every note on the same syllable.

그림 1- using a microphone

2. Contour-based Search

그림 2 contour-based search

The melodic contour search uses an editing distance. Because of this, the search engine finds not only entries with exactly the contour that is entered as a query, but also the most similar ones among the contours that are not identical. Similarity is measured by determining the editing steps (inserting, deleting, or replacing a character) that are needed for converting the query contour into that of the search result. Since only the melodic contour is relevant, one can find melodies even if the key, rhythm, or the exact intervals are unknown.

3. Rhythm-based Search For an even simpler (but less specific) way of searching, try the Rhythm-based "Query by Tapping" search method. The "query by tapping" method that only takes the rhythm into account uses the same algorithm as the pitch and onset time method, but assumes all pitches to be the same. As a result, the algorithm can be used for tapped queries that only contain onset times.
