비크라마디티야(산스크리트어: विक्रमादित्यः)는 바이탈 파치시와 싱가상 밧타시를 포함한 수백 편의 전통 이야기에 등장하는 전설적인 왕이다.^[1]^[2]^[3] 많은 사람들이 그를 우자인에 수도를 둔 통치자로 묘사한다(몇 가지 판본에서는 파탈리푸트라 또는 프라티쉬타나). 비크라마디티야라는 용어는 여러 힌두 군주의 칭호로도 사용된다.

대중적인 전통에 따르면 비크라마디티야는 사카를 물리친 후 기원전 57년에 비크라마 삼바트 시대를 시작했으며 그가 역사적 인물을 기반으로 한다고 믿는 사람들은 그를 기원전 1세기경의 인물로 배치한다. 그러나 이 시대는 서기 9세기 이후에 "비크라마 삼바트"로 식별된다.

"비크라마디티야"는 여러 인도 군주들이 채택한 일반적인 칭호였으며, 비크라마디티야 전설은 다른 왕들(특히 찬드라굽타 2세)에 대한 장식된 설명일 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 사카 시대의 많은 경전에는 강력한 통치자가 언급되어 있다.
