스코틀랜드 자유교회 는 스코트랜드 국가교회로부터 1843년 분열된 장로교단이었다. [1] [2] 로 알려진 1,843 중단 . [3] 1900년 스코트랜드 연합장로교회와 합하여 스코트랜드 연합 자유교회를 세웠다. [4]
토마스 찰머스 (Thomas Chalmers) 박사 (1780 ~ 1847)가 이끄는 거의 모든 게 일어 연설자와 선교사, 그리고 대부분의 고지 사람들을 포함하여 회원의 3 분의 1이 참여했습니다. 설립 된 교회는 모든 재산, 건물 및 기부금을 유지했습니다. 간부들은 700 개의 새로운 교회를 짓기 위해 40 만 파운드가 넘는 자발적인 기금을 조성했다. 400 파운드 (목사를위한 거주지)는 25 만 파운드의 비용으로 세워졌다. 에딘버러에있는 대학 뿐만 아니라 500 개의 교구 학교를 짓는 데 동등하거나 더 많은 금액이 소비되었습니다. 1872 년 교육법이 통과 된 후,이 학교의 대부분은 자발적으로 새로 설립 된 공립 학교 게시판으로 이전되었습니다.
