Hi! I was directed here to ask for assistance on an article in the English Wikipedia. The article in question is en:Busan Gaeseong Middle School murder, which you have on your Wikipedia as 부산 개성중학교 폭행 치사 사건. My biggest issue is that I cannot speak or read any Korean, so I am limited to whatever I can find through Google translate. Can anyone help find sources and fill in the English article with details that I might have missed or might have put in incorrectly? History of Korean TV dramas / Histoire des télénouvelles coréennes

Hello. I wrote a "History" section for en:Korean drama. Later I edited another article only for the edit to be canceled because my sources were considered unreliable. (Much more about this here.) I now know that most of my sources for the "History" section would also be considered unreliable. Since I don't know Korean, I can't fix this. It has been suggested that there might be someone here who could find reliable sources.

Please note that although 대한민국의 텔레비전 드라마 is nearly all history, it is not a substitute as is, because it cites no sources at all; I don't know whether that's a priority in Korean Wikipedia, but if it is, it should probably be fixed too.

Anyway, frankly, anyone intelligent who reads Korean could undoubtedly write such a section better than I. If anyone who knows both languages wants to merge the two sections, I assume the Korean one will dominate.

Article translation request

Hi,

I have been supporting english wikipedia article Ceremonial pole since East asian & other asian cultures too have traditions like en:Jangseung (장승). I suppose translation from en:Ceremonial pole this article to a Korian language article shall help to take note of ancient cultures in better way. At my user sand box 사용자:Mahitgar/연습장 I have added first para with google translation but I am not aware how acurate it is. And I request korian language wikipedia friends in helping out in this translation effort.

Metro ridership database

Hello everyone. Can someone hep me to find the actual ridership database per metro station for Seoul metropolitan subway? I checked this link which is given as a source in Korean articles, but it gives a blank page. I searched for 통계 on the website and it only givs this blank page as a result. I browsed through the menu with my limited Korean knowledge (and the help of a dictionary) but don't seem to find anything. Same with Korean transport database, it only gives a result for Korail (열림월별일반철도역간이용인원), which excludes Seoul Metro and other non-Korail stations. Under 지하철역간이용인원 there are only other cities listed, no Seoul. Itás frustrating. The links on both kowiki and enwiki [2] are broken. I really hate that Korean website structures change every half a year... and I have to keep updating the links manually all the time :( Can anyone tell me where the current statistics is? Hi! Wiki Science Competition has started, sitenotices have appeared for sure in Spain, Austria, Russian Federation, USA and Ukraine, and Italy will be join very soon with a massive national campaign.

As a member of the academic committee I did my best to reduce the gap between countries both in the composition of the juries and now in the outreach. I did inform many platforms (enwiki, eswiki, frwiki) during the preparation of the event, now I am informing all national institutions, associations and federations of science and technology I can contact, especially those located in countries without national juries (so, also in South Korea), I am posting notes on LinkedIn groups everyday, and I am contacting national chapters and user groups.. and so on. That's why I am here.

We prepared banners for many countries but on meta they say it is not wise to use them all, so if you want to use the style and do one here on your wiki for few days, just let us know. In your case the banner is not country-specific so it is generic.

Hello, I am an editor to the English Wikipedia. I have found many problems with the article en:Yang Kyoungjong and suspect parts or all of the story may be a hoax. The Korean Wikipedia page says he's a fictional character. There many problems with sourcing and information on the English page, and I've tagged it as a possible hoax.

There is a Korean documentary that could shed more light on this, but it is in Korean. Koreans who have seen it could be of assistance by summarizing the information in the documentary in English.

This is a suggestion to change the current article assessment system of the Korean Wikipedia to a new one. Please read this suggestion carefully from start to finish.

Here is the proposed new article quality assessment scale for the Korean Wikipedia:

Names of the kings of the Goryeo dynasty

Why are the titles of kings in the Korean Wikipedia usually "Dynasty name (왕조) + temple name (묘호)", for example 고려 고종 but for kings where is no templename, it is "dynasty name + temple name + king (왕)"? For example: 고려 충렬왕? Why is not 고려 고종왕 or 고려 충렬? Is it because there is no temple name for 충렬 that 왕 is added? @Christian140: "King Chungnyeol was the first Goryeo ruler to be remembered by the title wang (王), meaning "king". Previous rulers had received temple names with the suffix jo (祖) or jong (宗), meaning "revered ancestor" and a title typically reserved for emperors. Thanks. What we are discussing about is if the German title should be "Chungnyeol Wang" or "König Chungnyeol" (meaning "King Chungnyeol"). In Literature, usually the letter is chosen. And I also think it is correct to translate 王 with "King". However, another user claims "wang" is part of the name and must not be translated. 라리따 빤요팟

The article 라리따 빤요팟 seems to be an unattributed translation of en:Lalita Panyopas. Specifically, section 약력 is identical to the first paragraph of the biography section on the English Wikipedia page apart from the first sentence. Call for Candidates for the Movement Charter Drafting Committee

Movement Strategy announces the Call for Candidates for the Movement Charter Drafting Committee. The Call opens August 2, 2021 and closes September 1, 2021.

The Committee is expected to represent diversity in the Movement. Diversity includes gender, language, geography, and experience. This comprises participation in projects, affiliates, and the Wikimedia Foundation.

English fluency is not required to become a member. If needed, translation and interpretation support is provided. Members will receive an allowance to offset participation costs. It is US$100 every two months.

We are looking for people who have some of the following skills:

• Know how to write collaboratively. (demonstrated experience is a plus)
• Are ready to find compromises.
• Focus on inclusion and diversity.
• Have knowledge of community consultations.
• Have intercultural communication experience.
• Have governance or organization experience in non-profits or communities.
• Have experience negotiating with different parties.

The Committee is expected to start with 15 people. If there are 20 or more candidates, a mixed election and selection process will happen. If there are 19 or fewer candidates, then the process of selection without election takes place.

Delay of the 2021 WMF Board of Trustees election

Dear Wikimedians,

We are reaching out to you today regarding the 2021 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees election. This election was due to open on August 4th. Due to some technical issues with SecurePoll, the election must be delayed by two weeks. This means we plan to launch the election on August 18th, which is the day after Wikimania concludes.

We are truly sorry for this delay and hope that we will get back on schedule on August 18th. We are in touch with the Elections Committee and the candidates to coordinate next steps. We will update the Board election Talk page and Telegram channel as we know more.
