존 드레인

존 윌리암 드레인 (John William Drane, 1946년 10월 17일 - )은 영국 하틀풀에서 출생한 영국의 성서학자이며 잉글랜드 성공회 사제이다. 그는 스코트랜드의 스털링 대학교의 종교학 프로그램을 창설한 경력을 가지고 있다. 애버딘 대학교에서 유명한 해석학자 하워드 마샬에게 배웠고 맨체스터 대학교에서 저명한 성서학자 프레드릭 페비 브루스의 지도하에 Ph.D.학위를 받았다. 스펄전 대학교과 세인트 존 대학교에서 초청교수이며, 현재 풀러 신학교(Fuller Theological Seminary)에서 교환교수(adjunct professor)로 신약신학을 강의하며, 대표적인 초교파 단체인 '스코틀랜드 선교위원회'에서 의장을 역임했다. 그의 학위논문은 초대교회 기독교인의 사상과 실천과 관련된 영지주의 연구였다. 이런 신비적인 영성에 대한 관심은 성경 연구와 기독교인들의 선교에 관심을 갖게 하였다.
