아치볼드 알렉산더 호지

아치볼드 알렉산더 호지(Archibald Alexander Hodge, 1823년 7월 18일 – 1886년 11월 12일)는 1823년 7월 18일 유명한 신학자 찰스 호지의 아들로 태어나서 1878년에서 1886년까지 프린스턴 신학교에서 조직신학을 강의했으며 총장을 하였다.

전기

그는 1823년 7월 18일 뉴저지 프린스턴의 사라와 찰스 핫지사이에서 태어났다. 그는 프린스턴 신학교의 첫 교장, 아치볼드 알렉산더의 이름을 따서 찰스라고 지어졌다.

핫지는 1841년 뉴저지 대학 (후기 프린스턴 대학교)에 입학한 후 1847년 프린스턴 신학교에 입학했다.

그는 인도에서 3년간 (1847 – 1850) 선교사로 봉사했다. 그는 메릴랜드 주 로어 웨스트 노팅엄 (1851 – 1855) , 버지니아주 프레 더 릭스 버그 (1855 – 1861) , 펜실베이니아주 윌크스 바레 (1861 – 1864)에서 목회를 하였다. 1864년에 그는 펜실베이니아주 피츠버그에 있는 서부 신학교 (이후 피츠버그 신학교 )의 조직신학 교수로 초청받았다. 그곳에서 그는 1877년에 조직신학자로 저명한 그의 아버지 찰스 핫지가 있는 프린스턴 신학교에 조교수로 초청받았다. 그는 1878년에는 조직신학과목의 정교수직을 맡았다.
