설명

Español: Escudo de la Universidad de Chile. Rediseño por Juan Marcelo Contreras - Diseñador Universidad de Chile, el año 2003. Original del frontispicio Casa Central Universidad de Chile por Nicanor Plaza, el año 1874. Cuyo diseño heráldico fue definido oficialmente el 13 de diciembre de 1991 de la siguiente forma:

Cuartel superior derecho; la balanza sujeta por una espada en plata, fondo sinople (verde), representa a la Facultad de Leyes y Ciencias Políticas, actual Facultad de Derecho; cuartel superior izquierdo: el bastón y la serpiente de Esculapio de su color, fondo de oro (amarillo), representa a la Facultad de Medicina, hoy Facultad del mismo nombre; cuartel inferior derecho: un hemisferio iluminado por una estrella radiante de cinco puntas en plata, debajo compás en oro y escuadra en plata, fondo de gules (rojo), representa a la Facultad de Ciencias Matemáticas y Físicas, actual Facultad de Ciencias Físicas y Matemáticas; cuartel inferior izquierdo: dos libros acostados sobre ellos uno abierto y atrás la llama de una antorcha, todo de su color, fondo azur (azul), representa a la Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades, hoy Facultad del mismo nombre; Escusón central: en círculo una serpiente que se muerde la cola, en el campo el ojo del Creador inserto en un triángulo, todo de plata (blanco), representa a la Facultad de Teología. Lleva como timbre estrella radiante de cinco puntas en plata

El escudo sigue las convenciones del Taller de heráldica y vexilología de Wikipedia en español.
