Songgwangsa Temple Jijangjeon((Hall of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva) : The Jijangjeon is a shrine honoring 'Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva'. To either side of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva are located the figures of Domyengjonja and Mudokgyuwang, and to either side of them are the ten kings. This shrine is where various Buddhist Services are held, including services for dead souls like 'Cheondojae' and '49jae', 'Yonggacheondo'. The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is a Bodhisttva who wishes to save all of the people in the inferno, and is depicted as having a shaved head, he carries a staff to force open the gates of hell and a wish-fulfilling jewel to light up the darkness. The term 'ten kings' refers to the ten kings that determine the severity of the sins committed by people during their lifetime. It is said that when a person dies they go to each king to be judged upon the good and evil they have done in their life every 7 days for the first 49 days, every 100 days after that, 1 year after death,and 2 years after death.

송광사 지장전 - 지장전은 지장보살을 주불로 모신 전각으로 지장보살의 좌우에는 도명존자와 무독귀왕이 섰고, 그 좌우로 시왕(十王)이 모셔져 있고 천도재와 49재, 영가천도 등 각종 재를 지내는 곳이다. 지장보살은 지옥에 떨어진 중생들을 모두 구재하겠다고 원을 세운 보살로 삭발한 모습이다. 시왕은 인간이 살아있을 당시 지은 죄의 경중을 가리는 열분을 가리키며 사람이 죽으면 그날부터 사십구일까지는 7일마다, 그 뒤에는 100일, 1년, 2년 때에 차례로 각 왕에게 가서 생전에 지은 선악업의 삼판을 받는다고 한다. - 송광사 지장전 안내문
