샌디에고 통합 학구(San Diego Unified School District)는 미국 캘리포니아주 샌디에고에 기반을 둔 학구이고, 토지 투자 기업이다. 1854년에 설립되었고, 2005년 기준으로 200개가 넘는 기관과 15,800명이 넘는 직원을 대표하고 있다. 교사 평균 연봉은 약 67,000 달러이고, 이와 함께 연간 24,000 달러에 상당하는 혜택을 제공하고 있다.[1] 이 학구에는 초등학교 113개, 중학교 24개, 비정형 학교 4개, 대안학교 10개, 고등학교 27개, 그리고 차터 스쿨 25개가 있다.

학교 위원회[편집]

이 학구는 선출직 위원 5인으로 구성되는 교육 위원회가 운영한다. 지역별 위원의 임기는 4년이다. 2017년 10월 선출된 위원들은 마이클 멕쿼리(Michael McQuary), 케빈 베이저(Kevin Beiser), 존 리 에반스(John Lee Evans), 리차드 바레라(Richard Barrera), 샤론 화이트허스트-페인(Sharon Whitehurst-Payne)이다.[2]

교육감[편집]

교육감은 학교 위원회가 지명한다. 전역한 해군 제독인 빌 코우바(Bill Kowba)가 2010년부터 2013년 6월 30일까지 교육감이었고,[3] 그 뒤는 초등학교 교장이던 신디 마턴(Cindy Marten)이 이어 받았다.[4][5]

대외 협력[편집]

2010년 샌디에고 통합 학구는 "농장에서 학교로"라는 사업을 시작했다. 가급적 현지에서, 가까운 지역에서, 캘리포니아주에서 재배한 농작물을 학교 급식 등에 사용하려는 노력이다. 더 나아가 학교에서 농작물을 직접 재배하고, 학교가 샌디에고 환경보건국 인증을 받는 "정원에서 식당으로" 사업도 전개하고 있다.

2017년 샌디에고 통합 학구는 해양탐사연구소(Ocean Discovery Institute)와 협약을 맺었다. 이 연구소는 아이들에게 과학, 보존에 대해 가르치는 비영리 기관이다. 이를 통해 1,500만 달러 상당의 수업료 면제 학습 연구 센터를 유치했다.[6]
