Hello[편집]

안녕하세요. Thank you very much for offering yourself to help me correcting my user page. I'm learning Korean but my Korean skills are still very bad (I can already read and write hangul, but I still can't build even a simple sentence correctly)

So, please, I will really appreciate your help. I know the text I wrote in my userpage has a huge amount of mistakes (I had to use a translator to write some things, and online translators are very bad).

감사합니다 :)

Thank you very much!![편집]

I've just put the text you've made in my userpage. Thank you very much for correcting the mistakes I made :)

I had already learnt the difference between 여보세요 (for answering the phone) and 안녕하세요 (for general use) but I forgot to change it in my userpage. However, it is a bit hard for me to understand the usage of a polite way to refer to myself. In Spanish, there is only a polite form to refer to others, but not to yourself.

I am using this online method [1] to learn korean. It may be not very good, but I think it'll be useful to start with. I wish I could take Korean classes at an academy or an school, but I don't have spare time enough to assist to classes and there isn't any Korean language schools near my house. Next year I'll start studying at the University and maybe there I'll be able to take classes... I hope so!

Thank you very much again for helping me.

PS: By the way, the polite form to refer to yourself "저" is almost the same as the spanish word for "I" (yo) so I'm sure I'll remember it easily, hehe.

Thanks! I have just changed that text too. In Spanish, politeness usually is not shown using different words, but using a differtent tone when speaking. There are two ways to say "you". One of them (tu) is normally used to talk to close people or in relaxed situations. The other way (usted) is used to show respect or being very polite, for example, at school when talking to teachers, at your workplace, or when talking to old people. However, many people don't like to be referred that way because they consider that it's too "cold" and prefer to be referred in the "normal" way to feel closest and more comfortable with the person they're talking to. You can also be polite and respectful using the familiar form (tu) if you talk using a correct tone.
In English, the foreign language I know better, there's also only one word to say "you". That's why it will be difficult for me to learn the usage of several ways of reffering to others, and I'm afraid I'll sometimes be unpolite without wanting to.
Anyway, little by little I'm sure I'll improve my Korean skills :p. Thank you very much for your help. It's always very gratifying knowing nice people from other countries.
Kind regards!
