2019년 홍콩 시위는 홍콩에서 범죄자를 중국 대륙으로 송환할 수 있도록 한 법안에 반대해 일어난 시위다. 3월 31일부터 시작된 이 시위와 함께 법안 저지를 위해 휴업, 동맹휴학, 파업, 국제연대 등으로 항의가 이어졌다. 홍콩의 입법기관인 입법회는 범죄인인도법의 2차 법안심사를 12일 예정되어 있었으나 이 시위로 인해 심사가 연기되었고 15일 무기한 연기를 발표했다.
3월 31일 첫 시위
시민 인권 전위(CHRF, Civil Human Rights Front)가 시작한 첫 시위는 3월 31일 루어드 로에서 시작하여 시민 광장까지 행진하였다. 시위대는 '범죄인이 본토로 인도되면 홍콩은 어두운 감옥이 된다'며 악법 제정을 멈추라고 주장했다. 주최자는 만 2천 명이 시위에 참여했다고 했으나, 홍콩 경무처는 5천2백 명으로 추산했다.
6월 시위
6월 12일 시위
100만 명 넘는 시민이 평화적인 시위를 하는 와중에도 친중파 장관의 명령으로 출동한 홍콩 경찰들이 시위를 과잉진압하였다.[9] 그러는 상황에 극단적으로 분노가 쌓인 상태에서 한 모든 행위를 왜곡해서 홍콩특별행정구정부는 시민이 정부를 공격하는 '폭동'으로 규정해 체포 및 처벌을 하고 있다. 이 과정에서 최소 72명이 다쳤으며 2명이 중상이 발생하였다. 홍콩 경찰은 시위를 해산시켜 중국공산당의 이념을 더욱 전파하기 위해 고무총, 최루탄까지 사용하며, 중국 인민해방군이 하던 방식처럼 과격해지면 실탄을 사용한다고 발표하였다. 이로 인해 주변국들이 홍콩 경무처와 홍콩특별행정구정부를 비난하는 상황이지만 중국공산당은 내정간섭 하지 말라는 주장을 펼치고 있다. 이 사건으로 직접 중화민국의 총통인 차이잉원은 범죄자가 중화민국에 성공적으로 이송된다 한들 결단코 거부하겠다고 천명했다. 해당 법안을 통과시키기 위한 대표적인 구실을 중화민국에서 직접 없애버린것이다. 이 시위의 여파로 법안결정이 연기되었다.
인권단체 휴먼라이츠워치는 경찰이 시민들에게 과도한 물리력을 행사한다고 비판했다.
시위대의 소통창구로 사용되는 사용자 3만 명의 텔레그램 메신저의 그룹 관리자 이반 입은 공적 불법 방해 기도 혐의로 체포되었다.[10]
6월 14일 어머니들의 연좌 시위
6월 12일 캐리 람은 TVB와의 인터뷰에서 12일 젊은 시위대들이 한 것처럼 폭력적으로 시위를 한다면 어머니들처럼 자녀들의 잘못된 행동을 두고 보지만은 않을 것이라고 개탄하였다. 이에 14일 저녁 3시간 동안 주최자 추산 6천명의 홍콩의 여성들이 차터 가든에서 검은 옷을 입고 카네이션 꽃을 들고 연좌시위를 벌이며 캐리 람의 사퇴와 법안의 철회를 요구하였다. 주최자들은 캐리 람의 발언을 규탄하는 4만4천명의 서명을 받았다고 밝혔다.[11]
6월 15일 정부의 무기한연기
6월 15일 오후 3시경 홍콩 행정수반인 캐리 람 행정장관은 긴급 기자회견을 열고 법안 추진의 무기한 연장을 밝혔다. 그는 "경험에 비춰볼 때 올해 안에 법안 추진을 재도입할 가능성은 없다"고 덧붙였다.[12]
7월 시위
법안 추진의 무기한 연기를 했지만 철회를 하지 않았기 때문에 시위가 계속 진행되었다.
8월 시위
공항 점거 등 시위가 확대되었다.
9월 시위 : 송환법 철회
송환법 철회가 발표되었으나 시위대의 나머지 요구 조건이 수용되지 않아 시위가 계속 일어나고 있다.
