APA 스타일

APA 양식(APA style, APA 스타일)은 미국심리학회(American Psychological Association: APA)가 정한 문헌 작성 양식이다. 주로 사회과학 분야(심리학, 교육학 등)에서 많이 사용하며, 일부 자연과학 분야(생물학, 식물학, 지구과학)에서도 사용한다. 본문에는 저자-연도 형식으로 인용하고, 논문 끝의 참고문헌 목록을 이름 순으로 정리하는 것이 특징이다.

구획

APA 양식 논문은 보통 다음과 같은 구획으로 구성되며, 각각은 새 쪽으로 시작한다.

• 그림 캡션
• 그림 (그림마다 새 쪽)

제목

수준별 제목 형식은 다음과 같다. (한글에는 대소문자가 없고 기울임체도 잘 쓰이지 않기 때문에 제목 형식을 따르는 경우는 별로 없다.)

• 0수준: Center Uppercase and Low case Heading
• 1수준: Ideal Institute of Technology
• 2수준: Engineering college
• 3수준: Indented, italicized, lowercase paragraph heading ending with a period.
• 4수준: CENTERED UPPERCASE HEADING

인용

본문 중에 저자명, 간행연도, 페이지 등을 괄호로 묶어 표시하고(예: 홍길동, 2000), 논문 끝의 참고문헌에서 찾아볼 수 있도록 한다.

<인용 사항> (1) 전체적인 원칙 : 모든 인용 사항은 단어나 철자에 있어서 구두점에 이르기까지 인용하는 원문과 정확히 일치해야 한다.

(2) 생략 : 한 문장 내에 있어서 생략은 세 개의 공간점(예: …)을 사용한다. 주의할 바는 첫 점 앞에 동일한 한 점 사이 정도의 공간을 둔다. 완전한 문장을 인용할 때는 마침표로 끝나야 한다. 완전한 문장의 결말 다음의 생략은 문장 마침표에 덧붙여 세 개의 공간점을 사용한다(예: .…). 만일 생략 범위가 많을 때는 시의 경우 전행(line), 혹은 산문의 전 문단(paragraph)의 생략을 한 줄의 점선으로 한 행을 메운다. 그렇지 않는 경우는 생략이 시작하는 마지막 단어 다음에 세 개의 공간점을 사용한다.

(3) 인용

(가) 직접 인용
 ① 인용하는 내용이 짧은 경우(3행 이하; 영문에서는 40단어 이하)에는 인용 부호 (” “)를 본문 속에 삽입시키고, 그 인용문의 말미에  인용처(引用處)를 밝힌다. 인용처는 괄호 안에 저자와 출판년도를 표시한다.

예) “아동들의 관심사가 수업에 반영되었을 때, 학습의 효과는 더 높아진다” (김남순, 1996) ② 인용하는 내용이 긴 경우(3행 이상)에는 본문에서 따로 떼어 기술한다. 따로 기술하는 경우에는 인용 부분의 아래위를 본문에서 한 줄씩 비우고 좌 우로 각각 3 글자(영문에서는 5 칸)씩 들여 쓴다. 인용처는 인용 부분의 마지막 부분에 표시한다.

(나) 간접 인용
① 원문의 내용과 의도가 왜곡 또는 손상되지 않도록 함과 동시에 이 경우에 있어서도 출처를 정확히 밝히도록 한다.

② 인용하는 저서나 저자명이 본문에 나타나는 경우에는 괄호 속에 발행년도 또는 발행년도와 해당 면을 표시한다. 예) 이 문제에 관하여 김남순(1996)은 아동들의 관심사가 수업에 반영되었을 때, 학습의 효과는 더 높아진다고 했다(p. 123). 김남순(1996: 123)은 아동들의 관심사가 수업에 반영되었을 때, 학습의 효과는 더 높아진다고 했다. ③ 인용하는 저서나 저자명이 본문에 나타나지 않는 경우에는 해당 부분 말미에 괄호를 치고 그 속에 저자명과 발행년도를 표시한다. 하나의 사항에 여러 문헌을 인용하는 경우 문헌들 사이에 쌍반점( ; )으로 가른다. 예) 한 연구(성태제, 1996)에 의하면… 최근의 연구(성태제, 1996; Schubert, 1995)에 의하면… ④ 저자가 다수일 경우 3인까지는 모두 표시하되, 4인 이상은 첫 번째 저자만 나타내고 그 다음은 국문의 경우 ‘○○○ 외’, 영문의 경우 라틴어인 et alii (and others)의 약어인 ‘et al.’로 나타낸다. 학자에 따라서 직접 and others를 쓰는 경우도 있다. 예) 박아청 외(박아청, 1996) Darwin et al.(1995)
