로버트 포춘(Robert Fortune, 1812년 9월 16일 - 1880년 4월 13일)은[1] 스코틀랜드의 생물학자, 식물채취자, 여행자이다. 그는 영국 동인도 회사를 위하여 2년 반동안 중국의 차 재배지역에서 기술을 배워서 차 재배기술을 훔쳐온 것으로 잘 알려져 있다. 당시 중국에서 차 재배기술이 외국으로 유출되는 것을 막기 위해 외국인은 재배구역에 들어가는 것이 금지되었지만 그는 중국 옷을 입고 생활하면서 산업 스파이의 임무를 수행하였다. 인도에서 차가 대량으로 재배되어서 생산량이 중국을 추월하게 된 계기가 되었다.
