Beauty Behind the Madness는 캐나다의 가수인 위켄드의 두번째 정규 음반이다. 2015년 8월 28일 XO와 리퍼블릭 레코드를 통해 발매되었다. 일란젤로, 마이크 딘, 대니 보이 스타일스, 맥스 마틴 등 많은 프로듀서들이 참여하였고, 라브린스, 에드 시런, 라나 델 레이 등이 피쳐링에 참여하였다.

음반 발매 후 빌보드 200 차트에 1위로 데뷔하였고, 첫주에 326,000장이 팔렸다.

이 음반은 NME 선정 2015년 올해의 음반 19위에 선정되었다.[1]

배경[편집]

2013년 9월 13일 위켄드는 자신의 데뷔 음반인 Kiss Land를 발표한다. Kiss Land는 빌보드 200 차트에서 2위로 데뷔하였고, 96,000장을 팔았다. 이는 당시 차트 1위였던 키스 어번의 Fuse와 겨우 2000장 밖에 차이가 나지 않았다.[2] 후에 영화 헝거 게임: 캣칭 파이어의 사운드트랙에 참여하고 아리아나 그란데와 Love Me Harder를 같이 작업하는 등 꾸준한 활동을 보였다.

2015년 7월 5일, 에드 시런은 비츠 1에서 자신이 위켄드의 새 음반 작업에 참여하고 있음을 알렸다. 또한 새 음반에 카니예 웨스트와의 콜라보레이션도 있을 것임을 알렸다.[3] 2015년 7월 9일 위켄드는 자신의 두번째 음반 이름을 Beauty Behind the Madness라고 명명하고 트위터를 통해 음반 커버 사진을 공유하였다.[4]

싱글[편집]

2014년 7월 31일, 그는 첫번째 싱글인 "Often"을 발표하였다. 이 노래는 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 59위를 차지하였고, 캐나디안 핫 100에서는 69위에 올랐다.

2014년 12월 23일, 영화 그레이의 50가지 그림자 사운드트랙에 실릴 노래인 "Earned It"을 발표하게 된다. 이 노래는 Beauty Behind The Madness의 정식 싱글은 아니며, 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 3위를 기록한다.

2015년 5월 27일, 두번째 싱글인 "The Hills"가 발매되었다. 이 노래는 빌보드 핫 100에 처음 20위로 데뷔하였고, 후에 2015년 10월 3일 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 1위를 기록하였다. 2,323,531장의 판매 기록을 보유하고 있다.

2015년 6월 8일, 세번째 싱글인 "Can't Feel My Face"가 발매되었다. 이 노래는 빌보드 핫 100에 처음 24위로 데뷔하였고, 이 노래 역시 후에 빌보드 100 차트에서 1위를 기록하게 된다. 발매는 The Hills가 먼저였지만 차트 1위는 Can't Feel My Face가 먼저였기 때문에 이 곡은 위켄드의 첫번째 빌보드 100 차트 1위곡이 되었다.

2015년 11월 17일, 네번째와 다섯번째 싱글인 "In the Night"과 "Acquainted"가 발매되었다.
