박스오피스(box office) 또는 매표소(賣票所)는 영화나 공연을 관람할 수 있는 입장권을 판매하는 장소이다. 더 넓은 의미의 박스오피스는 공연, 특히 영화 산업에서 각 영화의 흥행 결과를 알 수 있는 총 수입액을 의미하기도 한다.

단어 사용[편집]

박스오피스는 입장권(티켓) 판매로 인한 사람의 수 혹은 돈의 양 증가에 관한 용어로 사용된다. 영화 수익에 관한 조사는 영화팬과 영화 관련 산업에서 매우 중요한 관심사이며 특히 할리우드 영화 산업에서 그러하다.

박스오피스 조사 사이트는 여러개 있으며 그 중 박스 오피스 모조)[1], 더 넘버즈(The numbers)사이트 등이 대표적이다. 주요 박스오피스 흥행 영화에 관한 목록으로는 영화 매출 순위 목록이 있다.

대한민국의 박스오피스[편집]

우리나라의 공식적인 영화관입장권에대한 발권 통합전산망 통계자료는 영화진흥위원회가 제공하고있으며 여기에는 누적관객수,누적매출액 이외에도 미국,프랑스등 해외 박스오피스 DB자료(배급사 정보 포함)도 함께 제공하고있다.[2]
