로렌드 배인톤

로렌드 H. 배인톤 (Roland Herbert Bainton, 1894년 3월 30일-1984년 2월 13일)은 영국출신의 미국의 개신교 교회 역사가이다. 종교개혁연구의 세계적인 권위자이다.

생애

배인톤은 영국 더비셔주 일게스톤에서 태어났다, 1902년 미국으로 왔다. 그는 휘트만 대학교에서 학사를 받고 예일 대학교에서 B.D. 와Ph.D.를 받았다. 그리고 미디빌 신학교, 오버린 대학교, 마르부르크 대학교, 게티스버그 대학교에서 명예학 박사를 받았다. 그는 예일 대학교에서 42년 동안 가르쳤고 은퇴후에도 20년 동안 저술활동을 하였다.
