설명
日本語: 故人春亭画　応需広重模寫「信州川中嶋合戦之圖」、大判3枚揃錦絵 。この作品は、風景画の大家・広重の川中島合戦である。作中に『故人春亭画　応需広重模写』とある。すなわち、勝川派の絵師・春亭の作品を広重が求めに応じて模写したと書き入れているのである。春亭の作品は、川中島合戦中の一騎打ちを描く典型的構図である。それを風景画風にリメイクしたのが、本作品ということなのであろう。川中島合戦の浮世絵のおもしろさは、武者絵であると同時に、千曲川を中心とする風景画とも理解できる点だ。善光寺を中心とする信州が、旅行ブームだった江戸後期にも人気の観光地の一つであったことが背景にあるのだろう。
